For developers Clipping API

Is there an API that turns long videos into short clips?

Yes. Send a video link, and a few minutes later read back vertical clips with captions, each with a title, a score, hashtags and a download link. The same calls schedule them to your TikTok, YouTube or Instagram and tell you how they did.

Included with every paid plan. Clips cost the same credits as in the app.

POST /api/v1/videos
{ "url": "https://youtube.com/watch?v=...", "clips": 3, "template": "Podcast" }
GET /api/v1/videos/v_8Kq2/clips
{ "status": "done", "clips": [
  { "title": "The habit that changed everything", "virality_score": 94, "download_url": "https://..." },
  { "title": "Why your first 100 videos don't count", "virality_score": 88, "download_url": "https://..." },
  { "title": "Discipline explained in 30 seconds", "virality_score": 81, "download_url": "https://..." } ] }

Who builds with it?

Anyone who clips more videos than they want to open one by one.

Agencies

Clip every client's podcast or stream the day it airs, in each client's own template, and hand back finished files.

Automation builders

Wire it into n8n, Make or Zapier: a new upload comes in, clips go out on a schedule, nobody opens an editor.

Clipping teams

Working several campaigns at once? Make the clips, post them and track the views each one counts toward a campaign.

Developers

Plain JSON over HTTPS with one key. Add clipping to your own app or dashboard without building a video pipeline.

What can you do with it?

Everything the app does with a video, as a call.

Make clips from a link

YouTube, Twitch, Kick, Rumble or Zoom. Choose how many and how long, burn in captions, translate them, apply a saved template.

POST /videos

Read the best clips first

Every clip with its title, virality score, description, hashtags and a download link, sorted best first.

GET /videos/{id}/clips

Re-cut and rename

Move a clip's start or end within its own footage, or change its title, description and hashtags.

PATCH /clips/{id}

Schedule posts

Put a clip on your content plan for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and your other connected accounts, now or at a set time.

POST /posts

See how clips do

Views, likes, comments and shares for each post, and your best clip of the last 30 days.

GET /clips/{id}/stats

Clip for campaigns

Find live clipping campaigns that pay per view, track your posted clips in them and read an estimate of what they earn.

GET /campaigns

How do you start?

Four steps, and the first one takes a minute.

  1. Create a key. In SnapDub, open Settings, API keys, name a key and copy it. It is shown once.
  2. Send a link. POST /videos with the link and your settings. The answer comes straight away with the video's id.
  3. Wait for done. Making clips takes a few minutes. Check GET /videos/{id} until the status is done, or check back from your automation later.
  4. Read and post. GET /videos/{id}/clips gives the clips best first. Download links last an hour, so fetch the file when you need it, or schedule the clip with POST /posts.

API or AI assistant?

Both reach the same clips. If you would rather ask in plain words inside ChatGPT or Claude, use the SnapDub connector for AI assistants: no code, the assistant makes the calls for you.

The API is for when the same thing should happen every time without anyone asking: a workflow in n8n or Make, a script, or your own product.

API questions

Clipping API: common questions

Is there a free tier for the API?

The API comes with every paid plan. On the free plan you can try the same clipping in the app first, and the API key page shows the plans when you are ready.

What does a clip cost through the API?

The same credits as making it in the app. There is no separate API fee, and reading your videos, clips and stats costs nothing.

Is there a rate limit?

Up to 120 requests a minute per key, which is plenty for checking on videos and posting. Making clips takes minutes anyway, so check back rather than asking every second.

Does it work with n8n, Make or Zapier?

Yes. Use an HTTP request step with your key in the Authorization header. Every call takes and returns plain JSON, and the reference lists each one.

Can it post to TikTok?

Yes, to the accounts you connected in SnapDub. A scheduled clip goes out through your content plan with the privacy and other answers saved in its settings, the same way as a post you plan in the app.

How is it different from the AI assistant connector?

Same actions, different driver. With the connector you ask ChatGPT or Claude in words; with the API your own code or automation makes the calls. You can use both on one account.

Clip from your own code

One key, plain JSON, the same clips as the app.
